Null surface thermodynamics

چکیده
We establish that boundary degrees of freedom associated with a generic co-dimension one null surface in $D$ dimensional pure Einstein gravity naturally admit thermodynamical description. expect the $\textit{null thermodynamics}$ to universally follow as result diffeomorphism invariance theory, not relying on other special features or theory. Using standard charge analysis and covariant phase space method, we formulate laws thermodynamics which are local equations over an arbitrary paralleling versions zeroth first Gibbs-Duhem equation. This system is generally open can be closed only when there no flux gravitons through surface. Our extends usual black hole universal feature any area element discuss relevance our study for membrane paradigm microstates.

Thermodynamics of Surface Phenomena
The thermodynamic treatment of the interfacial region corresponding to two fluid phases in contact is discussed. The features of this analysis which are reviewed include the classical treatment of Gibbs and the extensions to this treatment which are due to Buff. It is shown that these extensions are essential if the logical structure of the analysis is to be regarded as complete.

متن کاملSurface Thermodynamics of Hematite/Yttrium Oxide Core-Shell Colloidal Particles
Spherical and quite monodisperse particles (average diameter 60 ( 7 nm) of hematite (R-Fe2O3) were synthesized and then covered with a shell of yttrium oxide of variable thickness. A surface thermodynamic study was carried out for these core/shell colloidal particles, using two experimental techniques: contact angle measurements of selected liquids on glass slides uniformly covered by the mater...
متن کاملFirst-Principles Theory of Surface Thermodynamics and Kinetics
Understanding the complex behavior of particles at surfaces requires detailed knowledge of both macroscopic and microscopic processes that take place; also certain phenomena depend critically on temperature and gas pressure. To link these processes we combine state-of-the-art microscopic, and macroscopic phenomenological, theories. We apply our theory to the O Ru(0001) system and calculate ther...
